Details

At WeSpare, our mission is to help underserved communities, including immigrants, by providing secure, interest-free financial solutions. However, we are currently facing challenges with securing sufficient funding to expand and fulfill our mission.

We seek to collaborate with students through the Riipen program to assist us in finding and completing grant applications. This will involve several key tasks, including:

  • Understanding WeSpare’s mission and the project we have defined to support community-driven financial growth.
  • Developing a compelling needs statement that clearly outlines the financial challenges faced by underserved communities and justifies the need for WeSpare’s platform and funding.
  • Identifying and researching potential sponsors and funding opportunities that align with WeSpare's goals.
  • Enhancing the clarity and persuasiveness of WeSpare's grant proposals to increase the chances of success.

Bonus Steps

  • Identifying new opportunities for community-based projects that WeSpare can support with the resources and funding acquired.

  • A comprehensive understanding of WeSpare's community-driven financial project.
  • Identification of relevant sponsors and potential funding sources.
  • Recommendations for enhancing WeSpare's grant proposals, ensuring they align with funding opportunities.

Bonus Deliverables

  • A proposal defining new community initiatives that WeSpare could implement based on identified opportunities.

WeSpare offers a secure online platform that provides access to interest-free capital by creating a community-based savings and cash advance system (ROSCA) where members of the same group save to take turns receiving the pooled funds to individuals and communities who are underserved by the dominant (or traditional) financial institutions.

Each member of a Rotating Savings and Credit Association (ROSCA) saves every week, 2 weeks or month a predetermined amount and a different member receives the total funds without any interest to meet financial needs.
