The primary goal of this project is to develop a user-friendly and accessible mobile application that streamlines Operation Meraki's services and enhances engagement with veterans, volunteers, and staff. By centralizing resources, communication, and program registration, the app will improve access to our workforce development programs, wellness initiatives, and community events, ultimately supporting veterans in their journey toward personal and professional growth.

To achieve the project goal, learners are expected to complete the following tasks and deliverables:

Tasks

  1. Project Planning:
  • Conduct a needs assessment to understand Operation Meraki's requirements.
  • Define user personas and workflows for veterans, volunteers, and staff.
  • Develop a detailed project timeline with milestones.
  1. UI/UX Design:
  • Create wireframes and mockups for all app screens.
  • Ensure an intuitive, visually appealing, and accessible design.
  • Conduct usability testing to refine the user experience.
  1. App Development:
  • Build a cross-platform mobile application (iOS and Android) using a framework like Flutter or React Native.
  • Implement key features such as user profiles, event calendars, program directories, push notifications, and a registration system.
  • Integrate a secure database for user data and app functionality.
  1. Testing and Quality Assurance:
  • Conduct rigorous testing to identify and fix bugs.
  • Ensure the app is optimized for performance and compatibility across devices.
  1. Documentation and Training:
  • Provide detailed documentation of app functionality and backend processes.
  • Create a user guide for Operation Meraki staff to manage and update the app.
  • Offer training sessions or materials to ensure smooth handover and operation.
